Although the first stone of Lleida’s Old Cathedral was laid in 1203, its protracted construction continued until the 15th century. This explains the exceptional nature of the cathedral.
The sculpture, the gothic cloister that looks out over the city and the bell-tower that dominates the Lleida Plain contrast with the sobriety of the interior and the fortifications built around it. This a surprising cathedral with a unique history and a monument full of activities.
