Luci Emili Patern was a famous Roman centurion decorated three times by the emperor Trajan. He lived at Aeso, a settlement that once stood on the site of present-day Isona.
It is possible to see part of the wall of Aeso, but the most important legacy is a collection of tombstones which tells us about its ancient settlers.
The Museum of La Conca Dellà offers workshops and guided visits for groups. These will allow you to discover Aeso which was once a pole for Romanising inland Catalonia.
